Description:
This full day training class is designed to introduce HVAC Contractors, General building Contractors, and Mechanical Engineers to the process of sizing, designing and installing small Commercial HVAC package unit systems. This class includes three specific components: 1. Classroom instruction of the building science affecting equipment capacity and building loads. 2. Hands on training in the use of Wrightsoft™ to size small commercial loads. 3. Classroom instruction on the proper sizing procedures in ACCA Manual CS, and California Title 24 Ventilation Regulations.
Class Overview: This class will feature free equipment calibration. Attendees will have the opportunity to check HVAC, blower door and duct tester equipment calibrations. Instructor Gary Wollin will show attendees how to apply the principles for calibrating digital thermometers, refrigerant gauges (P/T) and pipe clamps used for checking pipe temperatures for both the liquid and suction lines. Attendees will be shown the field test procedure for digital manometers and be able to check personal manometers against newly calibrated manometers. Duct blaster inspections for proper airflow will also take place. There will be a demonstration on how to maintain duct blaster equipment including cleaning and checking for damage, and misalignment of the fan and plugged orifices.
The New Homes Solar Partnership for Solar PV rater verification process is covered in full day class and includes information on the program plus efficiency measures (building envelope and renewables including PV and Solar Thermal), photovoltaic system siting, shading, equipment verification, PV system technologies, Title 24 Residential Performance compliance, tangent lookups, compass rose, installation and verification information and solar glossary.
