Day 4 covers House Ventilation (ASHRAE 62-2 and Title 24) requirements and issues, measuring ventilation flows, and Ventilation Fan effects on building and room pressures.

ACCA Manual J – Equipment Sizing and Selection @ Energy Training Center, Stockton

It is recommended that participants take this course prior to attending the ACCA Manual D, Advanced Manual D.  This computer-based class will cover whole house and room-by-room ACCA manual J Version 8 Load Calculation methods.  The instructor will also review the ACCA Manual S Equipment Selection Manual.

Special Note:  Computers will be provided, but students should have basic computer skills such as being able to save and rename files, and use a mouse to click and drag.

This class provides a review of the ACCA Residential Design System and approved software, Manual D procedure, and proper documentation. Learn how to achieve efficiency compliance while optimizing ductwork for competitive pricing and comfort. North American Technician Excellence (NATE) continuing education credits are available for this class.

Residential Heat Pumps: Quality Design and Installation @ Energy Training Center, Stockton

Many homeowners are considering changing ‘Gas Furnaces’ to ‘Heat Pumps’ to provide  residential heating and cooling.
The Training builds upon the ACCA Wrightsoft series and focuses on the Science of correct sizing of Heat pump systems and includes a Wrightoft computer lab portion.

The session builds upon Manual ‘J’ and provides a foundation upon which Manual ‘H’  will be built.
It is recommended that attendees bring their own laptop preloaded with the Wrightsoft Demo software

Residential Air Balancing in California Dry Climates @ Energy Training Center, Stockton

As homes become tighter and use energy more efficiently, airflow and airflow balance is going to become increasingly important . Comfort and indoor environmental quality are dependent upon proper airflow into each room. The session starts with a classroom discussion covering the basic science and calculations involving airflow balance. Followed by a lab session that allows the material covered in the classroom to be put to practical use in a lab exercise.
Airflow measurements will be made with a flow grid and flow hood, other topics that will be demonstrated focus on the California Title 24 Part 6, approved Airflow measurement and Fan Watt efficacy calculations.

Commercial QI ACCA Manual D, Q and T Duct Design @ Stockton Energy Training Center

This full day training class is designed to introduce HVAC Contractors, General Building Contractors, and Mechanical Engineers to the process of duct design and register selection when installing small Commercial HVAC systems. This class includes four specific components.

1. Classroom instruction of the ACCA Duct Design procedure.

2. Classroom instruction on effects of CFM, velocity and pressure on duct desgins and general airflow terminology.

3. Duct sizing practice exercises.

4. Register selection and placement.

Commercial QI Advanced Manual N @ Stockton Energy Training Center

This full day training class is designed to introduce HVAC Contractors, General building Contractors, and Mechanical Engineers to the process of sizing, designing and installing small Commercial HVAC Systems. The training class includes two specific components.

1. Review of all objectives and principles covered in the first two courses of this series.

2. Hands on software exercises guided by the instructor to verify students can properly design an HVAC package unit system for quality installation, as well as properly design the duct system.
